Plumbline Services at the Walk to Defeat ALS

The ALS Association is dedicated to fighting ALS by helping with research, patient and community services such as public education and advocacy. ALS, or Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease was first discovered in 1869, but did not get a lot of recognition until Lou Gehrig, a beloved baseball player was diagnosed. ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that attacks nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. Eventually, the motor neurons die, the ability of the brain to initiate and control muscle movement is lost and paralysis is possible.

The ALS Association’s goal is to serve the needs of the individuals living with this disease and their caregivers. The national office mainly focuses on research and advocacy. Local chapters, like the Rocky Mountain Chapter, focus on helping patients and families living in their area. Many local chapters will hold events like the Walk to defeat ALS, Ski to Defeat ALS, Annual Galas and other fun events.

Every October since 2017 Plumbline Services donates and participates in the Denver Walk to Defeat ALS at Sloan’s Lake Park.

Working with this organization and the rest of the community to help patients and their families is a tremendous honor. We are happy to do our part to help the ALS with their fight.

On October 13th, 2019, the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the ALS Association hosted its annual Walk to Defeat ALS. Plumbline was proud to be among those in attendance for our third consecutive year.

The ALS Association is an American nonprofit dedicated to discovering treatments and a cure for Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as motor neuron disease (MND) or Lou Gehrig's disease. They also aim to serve, advocate for, and empower those who are affected by ALS.

The ALS Association explained why these walks are so vital for our community and their organization, “The Walk to Defeat ALS is the number one way to unite and fundraise for those living with ALS. Each year, fundraising through the Walk drives bold and urgent innovation as we march together toward a cure for ALS.”

Our employees were honored to be part of this effort and strap on their walking shoes to help tackle ALS. Check out the photos of team Plumbline participating in the 2019 Walk to Cure ALS below!

Walk to Defeat ALS: October 2018

October 31, 2018

This was Plumbline Services’ 2nd year donating to this great cause. It is our honor to help support this mission.

"As the preeminent ALS organization, The Association leads the way in research, care services, public education, and public policy – giving help and hope to those facing the disease.” http://www.alsa.org/about-us

The ALS Association has chapters all over the country. The individual chapters focus on helping patients and families living in their area. While the national office focuses on research and advocacy. The local chapter, the Rocky Mountain Chapter, was founded in 1996. The ALS has a simple mission; to provide assistance to those living with the disease and to find a cure.

Each individual chapter hold their own events to help fundraise money for their mission. On October 13th the Rocky Mountain ALS chapter hosted the 2018 Walk to Defeat ALS. This walk helps fundraise funds to support the organization’s mission. All funds that are collected impact individuals at the local level.

A few of our employees and their families have a personal connection to this horrible disease who participate in the Walk to Defeat ALS each year. They each had a great time at this year’s event. This was Plumbline Services’ 2nd year donating to this great cause. It is our honor to help support this mission. We hope to one day see the end of ALS.
